The refugees we currently assist, hailing from diverse cultures and speaking various languages, face immense pressure to swiftly adapt to American life and culture. Within just a few months, they are tasked with mastering English, securing sustainable employment, enrolling their children in school, and comprehending the intricacies of the American health care system, government programs, the school system, and social services.

Refugee youth encounter specific challenges to success, including educational gaps, language barriers, and a lack of supplemental academic support. Moreover, newly arrived refugee children often demonstrate a pronounced need for focused social and behavioral support as they navigate the United States' education system and culture. Failing to address these needs may result in a narrow window of opportunity for youth and their families to acquire literacy and essential skills before high school
graduation.
Despite these obstacles, our consistent observation is that with the support of social structures and targeted assistance, refugee youth make rapid progress in their education and flourish as valued members of their community.
Guided by seasoned professional educators, our Youth Programs are designed to ensure that refugee youth progress on grade level and enter high school well-prepared and on track to graduate.

LANGUAGE COURSES
We offer short-term courses on cultural competency to individuals and groups seeking to conduct business in the target language country or simply enhance their cultural competence. Essential skills developed in our training include navigating a high-context society, leasing a residence, negotiating deals, and establishing business connections. Interactive and assimilated activities are embedded in the training to reinforce cultural knowledge and sensitivity among the participants.

LANGUAGE COURSES
New American Pathways’ Forward Adult Education Program offers vital support to refugees and immigrants seeking to enhance their English proficiency and advance in their careers. Our English program facilitates one-on-one English tutoring by pairing volunteers with new Americans. Key program components encompass financial literacy education, career and education counseling, referrals for credential evaluation, and support with internship, training, and job placements.
